Ingenuity US, L3C (IUS) is a mission-driven, low-profit limited liability company (L3C). Our purpose is to build patient, community-focused capital and cooperative business resources which will enable a vibrant, rooted, growing, sustainable community in Detroit. We want to make a profit, but we intend to retain at least 50% of the profits in the company to recapitalize it or to help create other community-based enterprises. We welcome all investors, via sweat, cash, intellectual property or in-kind equity, who will accept our community reinvestment principles and commitment to sharing and respect.

Our plan is to build a network of sustainable community-based or employee owned businesses based on the abundant underutilized resources of Detroit and Southeast Michigan. We will be focusing on businesses that require local workers, and are thus less vulnerable to the export of jobs. In order to help anchor these businesses in the local community, we intend to spin-off or share ownership of the businesses we create with the employees and local stakeholders.
